My organization has an event coming up on Thursday, and we were given an opportunity to go on the air to highlight the event. I had two days to prepare for this, and was frightening as heck, but an amazing experience. There are things I did well, and things I could really improve for the next time, but for my first TV appearance (and "live" at that), not too bad.

Broken Bone
With 3 active kids, I'm surprised this hasn't happened before. We've had our trips to the ER for the flu, trips to the minute clinic for strep, but never a broken bone until now.
Our son plays starting goal keeper on the varsity high school soccer team, and yet he broke his finger during PE class playing basketball. Now his undefeated team this season, along with shutouts (that means the opposing team never scored), is hoping the trainer can wrap it well enough for him to continue playing.

Life is never dull in our family!

44th Birthday Celebration
What an amazing day! I started my birthday with Muffins for Mom at school. We took a quick selfie, then headed to her classroom where she got to show off her classwork.

I snapped a picture of my favorite!
My son decided to give me the gift of his time. So without hesitation, I made a reservation at a nice French restaurant downtown. We ordered the Crepes de mer, and it was delicious! I really enjoyed the dinner, and was grateful for those few precious moments of conversation. (Notice he even put his arm around me.)
Afterwards, we all gathered back at home for cake. We didn't bother getting a 2nd candle with the #4, so we just used the #2 again. It was a My Little Pony cake, and the little one offered to clean the toys if she could keep them.

Next, I received lots of sweet wishes from coworkers, family, and friends. At first I was trying to down play another year that I'm older, but then I realized how precious life is and that every year is reason enough to celebrate!

Lunch Date
My youngest still loves me to come have lunch with her. I enjoy that, and really treasure these moments because they won't last forever. The older two would prefer I drop off Chick-fil-A without being seen, and eating with them has been completely out of the question for years.
Before leaving the school, I had a chance to read her latest assignment posted on the wall. Precious!

Conversation
Here's the conversation that took place earlier today:
Son: Mom, do you notice anything different about me?
Me: Yes, I took you to get your hair cut and you look nice.
Son: No, that's not it.
Me: Oh, you brushed your hair. I like it.
Son: No, Mom, gosh. I shaved.
Me: What? Why did you shave? I didn't know you had whiskers.
Son: Yes, I've shaved 3 times now. You can tell when I haven't shaved in a while.
Me: Oh, I haven't noticed. Let me feel your face.
Son: Get your hands off my face! That's weird. Don't touch me!
Me: (trying not to laugh) Well, you look handsome. Do you want me to buy you some razors and shaving cream?
Son: Yeah, maybe. I lost mine so I've been using Dad's.
Since he wouldn't let me take his picture, I had to take this when he wasn't looking.

MLK Service Weekend
This past weekend, the little one helped me clear brush from a new cancer survivors park opening this summer. Construction begins in February! If interested in the progress, here's the link to the organization's website: http://www.cancersurvivorspark.org/

Teacher & Student
Our oldest has been a gymnastics coach for the little classes almost a year now. She loves it!
