Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter. -- Brad Henry

Celebrity Golf

CDS is a beneficiary of a celebrity golf tournament, so I had the privilege of getting a front-row seat and walking alongside a few of the players.  A few of those I got to see:

Aaron Rogers, QB for Green Bay Packers

Richard Karn, Home Improvement (aka Al)

Chipper Jones, Atlana Braves

Alfonso Ribeira, Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire

Larry the Cable Guy

John O'Hurley, Seinfeld (aka Mr. Peterman)

Tim Wakefield, 17 yr pitcher for Boston Red Sox

Andy Buckley, The Office (aka David Wallace)

Of all these, my favorite and the one representing CDS was Tim Wakefield.  He came to tour our facility and met some of the children we serve.  His wife and daughter came, too. Great guy!

It's On!

Since living in this neighborhood, we've had 5 owners in the house next door.  Some kept their lawns up well, others not so much.  The one we have now is a bit over the top on wanting to have the best yard in the neighborhood.

He overseeds with multiple grass seed for a green lawn year-round.  The guy will be out there mowing at just 15 degrees in January with his snow gear on!  We make fun of him, but his impeccable yard began striking a nerve with our son.  "Oh, it's on now!", he said.

Our son now comes home from school and immediately works in the yard, whether mowing the front, back, weeding, trimming, or fertilizing.  Let the competition begin!

MCAT

Our oldest came home from USC with tons of books.  Not books for summer school, but prep course books for the MCAT.  She has been studying for six months taking practice test after practice test, diligently reviewing every missed question.

Although we won't know her results until late-June, I'm proud of her efforts.  She will make a great doctor some day!

Together Again

I am so happy to have all my kids home for a few months!  While the oldest studies for her big exam, the other two will be finishing up their school year.  When we all went to church together for the first time in a while, I got a fellow parishioner to snap a picture.

It may seem like a small thing, but this meant so much that we all sat together in the pew.  Afterwards, Eric took us out for a "corporate breakfast" at Bojangles.

Government Oath

Eric was elected last November to serve another four years as our Brushy Creek Watershed Commissioner.  This is his 3rd term.  We've never seen a picture of his swearing in ceremony with previous elections, so it was nice to get this one on record.  You make us proud, Eric!

Easter Hunt

Since we missed our family Easter tradition while on spring break, we created our own special day in remembrance of this wonderful holiday.

After church, we at the full Easter meal with turkey, dressing, mashed potatos, green beans, salad, cranberry sauce, and rolls.  Yes, our family eats this three times a year!  Then, the 2 hour nap, my favorite part!

Later that afternoon came the egg hunt.  Now, the kids only agree to this because it's in our backyard (no one can see us) and there might be a metallic egg or two with money in it.  The little one goes first with a 2 minute head start.  She found the bronze egg.

Our son joins in and quickly grabs all the ones he had seen from his 2 minute stand-by watch.  He found the golden egg.  Still, there's the silver left to be found. (Note the green eggs are falling out of the basket.  This is how fast and serious we take the game.)

Lastly, Eric jumps in.  He is the best at finding eggs, so he has to wait 10 minutes.  You've never seen so much energy looking for eggs!

Out of 20 eggs total, the little one found the bronze and silver ($15), our son found the gold ($20), and Eric found only one...the last remaining egg.  Can you spot it?  It's pink and sitting in the handle of the red gas can under the motorcycle.

His one egg held his favorite candy, a Kit Kat!  In his eyes, he came out the real winner.  :)

Neighborhood Work Day

This weekend was our neighborhood work day.  We hadn't had one in almost 2 years, so there was a lot to do.

The little one and I signed up to help paint the fences at our entrance.  We were a great team!

I love where we live, so it was nice to do our part to keep it enjoyable.
